Need help with my Harman P61A

Hello all,
I am new to this forum and need help! My husband and I recently divorced and this is the first winter I will be dealing with the stove on my own. I tried to start it up for the first time last night (it was recently serviced two weeks ago so there should be no issues with it) and the combustion blower light comes on and this blower runs and runs for over an hour and nothing else happens. No pellets feed into the hopper and the stove does not ignite. I've checked all the seals and made sure the doors were closed.. what could the issue be? I have tried to call the place where the stove came from but they never call me back and it's getting cold at night and I would really like to use the stove! Thank you in advance for any help you can provide me!
 
First off, unplug the stove for about 30 seconds. CLOSE the hopper lid. Make sure the selector knob is in the off position. ( that's the stove temp room temp knob) Plug the stove back in. When you do this, the combustion fan should run for about a half second and shut off. Only the Power light should be lit. Turn the Feed rate knob to "test". All of the fans should run, the auger should turn and feed pellets. Do this and let us know what happens and we will go from there. Hang in there, we should be able to get you going.

Also, tell us if the status light is flashing and how many blinks...

I did this yesterday and what happened was the status light lit up for a few seconds and turned off, and only the combustion fan light remained on, and the combustion fan continued to run until I unplugged the stove. The pellets did not feed.

So in "test" mode there is no auger and no distribution blower? You said you had it serviced two weeks ago? Did they test fire it then? Is the silver switch on the control board in Manual or Auto?
 
I put it in test mode again, and the distribution blower and the combustion blower come on, but the igniter and feed lights do not. I let it run in test mode while I was out for over an hour, I came back and the combustion blower was still running, and the status light was blinking 5 times.
 
5 lights is no ignition within set amount of time. Something like 30 minutes IIRC.

Is switch in manual or auto position?

I asked her that already and she didn't answer the question.....oh well.
 
5 blinks indicates that the igniter failed to light after a few tries..
i cleaned mine out a few weeks ago and auger would not turn,come to find out my fines cover was not on good..lol
 
I noticed. That's why I asked again. Hopefully it is something that simple. :)
I think the auger should work in test mode regardless of the switch position....

excellent Roadking!! if the stove was completely serviced as she states that's very possible and the vacuum switch is not being satisfied.

Either a bad ESP probe or bad control panel or both are bad. I would replace both. If no surge protector, that can cause your problem. Igniter may also be bad.

Not yet for me Don. I want to diagnose further. She just has to stay with us and we can rule some things out first.

I'm sorry, what is the fines box cover? Are you talking about the ash pan door? I have checked the hopper and both the stove and ash pan doors and they are all closed tightly. The tech did not fire the stove after it was serviced, and that is my issue. I took his word that it was all set, and I should have made him fire it. Now the place that serviced it refuses to take any responsibility and they will not come back out to fix the problem.
 
The stove worked absolutely fine before he came out to clean it. He took the entire thing apart to clean and service it, and now it doesn't work. No one touched it but the service tech and they refuse to fix the problem. It is beyond frustrating.

Ok lets not give up yet. The fines box is located on the right side of the stove towards the back. You will have to remove the right rear side panel with a screwdriver. Its just 2 screws. Can you do that? I don't know how handy you are.....

The fines cover is Hidden in back.. First facing the stove bottom right rear you have to remove that cover with two screws.. 5/16 nut driver or wrench will do it.. After that covers off you have to reach up there feel for wing nut.. Don't take the wing that all the way off make sure you cover is set properly and tighten the wingnut make sure you unplug the stove first
 
Also the 5/16 screws you don't have to take off all the way the covers slotted sort slide right out.... The fines cover you're looking for is about the size of a pack of cigarettes
 
As roadking says, its a large cast iron plate with a large wingnut. Unscrew the wingnut and check inside for fines. You might as well check this because if the tech didn't do it, you will need to vacuum it out. I will post a picture for you at some point unless someone else has one handy????

i would never call these guys again....and make sure to spread the word about how bad their customer service is with these ass clowns...

This is what it looks like with the fines cover off. If you can see that little tab at the top the cover kind of hangs on that and then you tighten the wing nut securely. If that cover isn't installed correctly the vacuum switch won't be satisfied and your auger and igniter won't work. He may have damaged other things but we have to rule some things out before we start spending your money on parts.
