I looked at home depot and they have stores in my area. They have the nc 30 right now for 649 I really like the nc 30 and it get gets great reviews. I have went to there stores before and seen the 30 they have just never checked it out before.

the 13 will not give you major burn times

Does your stove have an ash pan? Make sure everything is sealed up tight. Also check your air control mechanism, could be something stuck or warped not letting you turn it down as far as it can go.

Burn time is a relative and subjective term. If you are looking for say 4-5 hrs at a continuous temperature of over 500F, the stove should be able to do that. What are you seeing? What size splits are you burning?

I reload at 250-300 stove top with small splits i get 2 hours with big ones i can only get 4 but 5 is pushing it. i wake up a lot in the mornings to find a cold stove it is starting to get to me.

That sounds like my times with doug fir. What species of wood are you burning? How big are your big splits?

You fill a 3+ cubic foot stove to the gills, get 4-5 hours and after that the stove top is in the 250-300 degree range? I think if you had an air leak the stove temps would be higher than the 500-550 range. Something doesn't add up, as others have said this stove should be doing better switching it out may not help much since the 30 is similar in size.

Don't remove the brick baffle that is just going too allow the heat right up the chimney.

Todd my stove does have a ash plug that i keep covered up with an inch or so with ash.

BeGreen i burn mostly hickory some oak also i burned maple. Also i don't burn the stove if i don't have dry seasoned wood.

Also i dont like that the burn tubes cant be removed for cleaning they are welded in.
