I think it's Poplar (tulip poplar). I have some in my 09 wood. I find it splits incredibly easy and drys out as quick. Not sure that it delivers alot of BTU's.

I like poplar. If I am scrounging - I take it.
 
The Poplar will burn fast with a lot of ash and not many coals. Don't split it as small as the other wood unless you want to use it to get the oak going.
