New Chimney Liner problem with lingering fireplace odor

We have a 25 yr old house with a wood-burning fireplace that had cracked tiles and needed repair. We had this (very expensive) "Heat Shield Cerfractory Flue Sealant chimney repair & relining system" by CeCure Chimney Systems LLC installed a few months ago. Each time we light a fire we make sure the hearth is clean, open the flue, use dry wood, and open a sliding door in the room. We clean the hearth after the fire is out. All that said, there is a very strong lingering odor that permeates the first and second floors for over a month. I have opened all windows for a few hours, tried a hepa filter in the room where the fireplace is, all to no avail.
Wondering if anyone has experienced something similar, and more importantly wondering how to solve this problem.

Are there specific curing instructions for this product? What did you have done? It looks like this product can be used for everything from remortering joints to relining.

Sorry I have no experience with heat shield other than relining a few that didn't adhere and failed.
