Hello all. Strongly considering putting a stove in the house. I have a Drolet escape 1800 in my outbuilding and have been happy with it. Looking at drolet's new model, escape 2100. The best spot to install it in my house has a couple challenges, and I'm having trouble figuring out if this meets clearances. The main issue is that there is a load bearing beam (guessing lvls cased in drywall) near where the stove will be. Stove pipe clearance shouldn't be an issue with double wall, but looking at the manual, side clearances to the stove are are 14". The beam would be inside of that 14", and 36" above the top of the stove. I wouldn't think that this would require you to consider the lowest point on the beam as the ceiling height, but I'm not sure. The manual lists different clearances for a reduced ceiling height of 72"

In the shielding section of the manual, it states that minimum clearance from stove top to unshielded combustible ceiling is 39.25". I think can meet that number by shifting things around a little bit, but would that be considered adequate?

I attached the relevant sections of the manual, and a rough sketch of the stove layout. Thanks for any input.

For peace of mind and a bit better performance you could use double-wall stove pipe and put a heat shield on spacers on the beam. Or lower the hearth to 6"?

Yes I could shield it, or lower the hearth, but I'd prefer a higher hearth. Personally I'm not worried about it, but am wondering about what would be considered proper code install. I'm still in the planning stage and haven't contacted insurance yet, want to make sure that it can be done properly. From what I have read in the manual, I'm inclined to think that the 39.25" clearance would apply to my situation, but it's hard to tell from the manual.

I suspect you're right. Contact Drolet support for verification. By shifting things around do you mean moving the stove over to the left a bit so that it's not under the beam?

Yes, probably left a little and down a little, just enough to meet the 39.25" on the diagonal to the stove top. The "A" dimension on the attached drawing from the manual.
