I for one don't know much about them, nice looking stove. Regency, to my knowledge carries a solid name and line of stoves.

I would certainly consider it. Sherwood Industries makes pellet stoves for Regency and other labels. That stove is essentially similar to the Enviro M55 Cast. So see if you can get some feedback about that stove from other folks here. It's a big beautiful beast of a stove, I saw one in a shop a few weeks ago.
Thanks. I'll search for info on the M55. The owner of our local shop is supposed to stop by my house today (yes, on a Sunday) and look at where I want the stove and give his input as to size I need, etc.
With the reprogram of the E2, the heat output and efficiency was lowered but I don't believe they corrected all their literature on their website as I checked in the course of discussions on the forum.
Some of the other owners have noticed a decreased output with the reprogram (they didn't experience the explosion). Not sure if they received any consideration for receiving a defective machine with diminished output from what was stated...
He suggested going with the MTV E2. He said he's never sold a Regency GC60. He said he likes the Lopi Leyden, but he knows they have a few issues. He likes the MTV AE, but he knows I prefer a more simple design, so in his opinion the E2 fits all our needs.
The closest Harman dealer to me is 65 miles. In my opinion, that's too far away in the event I need something from them in the future.
All perspective ... no stove shops in the area here. Nearest one is actually 4-1/2 hours away. When we bought the Elena, the NA distributor was 1 hour away... he's only dealing in outdoor boilers now
Amazon and ebay have been a good source of parts to the door along with a couple other sources that advertise here and my local dealers usually have to order in anyway. Closest dealers of anything is 36 miles and still have to wait for them to get the parts in. Was totally surprised when they said they had a snap switch for a gas stove (wanted to fix stove now)only to find out it was not the right one and had to modify
Bio has a good point ... most dealers of anything (from pellets stoves, to dishwashers, to cars) have "just in time" ordering and rarely have many parts on the shelves.
Good if your dealer is close and very helpful... there are good ones out there. Just saying that for many of us, that is not an option or the dealer lets their customer down. Dealer support is on the "qualities" list when buying a stove . Good luck with the purchase and "pics or it didn't happen"

This was the only part of the house we didn't gut down to the studs. We removed all the trim, hung drywall over the existing plaster, and replaced the trim. This is our trouble area for heat in the winter. We can shut it off from the first floor via french doors, but all the cold air travels upstairs to three bedrooms. My plan is to install the stove in this area on an outside wall so the heat will travel upstairs and into our main living area on the first floor.

Here's the house the day we bought it. Built in 1896. The family we purchased it from lived there 60+ years. They bought it from the original owners, making us only the third owners. The large window on the right is where the foyer is. The door to the left of the large window was removed a year ago and is precisely where the stove will be placed. From start to finish, it took us 9 months to gut the entire house and put it back together. We essentially have a brand new house in a 115+ year old shell.

Staircase is very much the same as our old house that was 1903 vintage (dated by homework found in the wall of the living room
). Plaster in the living room was pulling from the lathe . Hubby got a surprise when he came home from a weekend away - bare studs!Your on NG and are complaining about cost? Around me in WI NG is the cheapest heating option available by a good margin. Unfortunately NG is not available yet where I live out in the country. Only option for me is LP which has been stupid expensive the last few years. Pellets used to be my cheapest option. The prices of Pellets have increased year after year since I installed my first stove. To the point that for me its about a wash for running pellets or LP this year.
My advise for you is use the funds for the pellet stove and upgrade you NG furnace!

Our NG Bill is usually reasonable. It's our electric bill that's high because we end up running plug in heaters in the three bedrooms upstairs during the winter.
There is several Direct vent heaters that run on NG. Empire is one off the top of my head. I see them on CL often when people upgrade homes or cabins.
My natural gas bill for October was billed at $0.33. November was billed at $0.30. In 2014 it peaked at $0.49. My highest consumption for one month was 208 therms. A top of the line Quad gas stove tops out at 37,000 BTU. If we ran it non stop, how do I calculate what my monthly cost would be? Am I stupid to not just get a natural gas stove? The E2 stove I was looking to get puts out 55,000 BTU, but it's also almost $2000 more.
There used to be a fuel cost calculator on the forum but can't seem to find it since the layout change... did note this one mentioned so at least you can do some cost comparisons... Hope it helps.

It sounds as though you have no heat ducted or piped upstairs ( hot air or hot water system) and what you really need is to upgrade your heating system to accommodate the upper floor.
My son has NG out here in the east and what he and his wife pay for an annual gas bill is about equal to a month of heating in mid winter here in this house ( less than pellets or oil). Course their house is more modern and tighter to begin with but NG is cheap, and if the power goes out they have a manually fired gas fireplace that will heat the house into the mid 60's alone.. If your upstairs is cold that air will spill right down that stairwell and affect the downstairs. I would say that is more why your entry is cold than the entry being cold and cold air rising to the upstairs as you mentioned in another message. Cold air falls, hot air rises. Your stove idea may work, be that 37,000 btu or 55,000 btu but your real issue sounds to live right up stairs.
In this house we have to turn central heat down at night, we have one zone for this house and a second zone for an attached apartment , it's forced hot water heat by oil and it gets hot up there ! Because equal heat gets up there by the heating system plus the main houses heat rising. Our stove in cold weather if left to heat the whole house brings the upstairs up to comfortable sleeping levels of heat , maybe a little cool when first getting in the shower . if you try to heat the upstairs by stove from down stairs it will be warmer up there than now but nobody could tell you how much or how evenly.

Like others have said, NG is the cheapest source of heat by far. The only thing cheaper than NG is coal. It still not too late to have professional NG HVAC contractors come into your house to give you ideas and quotes on an NG system upgrade. There are many NG upgrade solutions available that would surprise you. If you have a hot water NG boiler than you can go with on demand domestic hot water, which is way cool because your not heating a tank of water when your away on vacation and your family has an infinite supply of hot water showers when you are home.
Nice job on the house. Before and after are night and day. Good Luck with the E2. On the bright side of waiting for the install we have and still are experiencing moderate temps this month still so it'll still be in for the colder months to use.
Another point as mentioned above my dealer is about 45 miles or so away and stocks parts. That said I still don't go there for them and get them online in a short time right to my door and cheaper. Get some pics up when the stoves lands at home. We dig pics around here.
