What's the question?
Thanks Begreen . If we mistakenly add wood that is not at optimum dryness is the wood stove more forgiving then a fireplace? Do we need to pay attention to the metal pipe that entesr the attic before passing thru the roof? Should I have a smoke alarm up there? Do you recommend having a fire extinguisher located where the stove is? Hopefully I'm not wearing out your willingness to help. Thanks Dan

Ask away and welcome. That's what we're here for.

An occasional 25% moisture content split will not be a showstopper if the rest of the wood is <20%. If the wood sizzles on the end, that is not a good sign. Bring a batch into the house in a tote or box and let it sit for a week or two.

If the chimney system is class A, HT2100º pipe, correctly installed, then there is no need to have anxiety about it. But do verify that it is properly installed. One common error with chimneys going up through attics is they lack an insulation shield which keeps blown insulation and debris out of the top of the ceiling support box. If this is missing, one should be installed after the support box is vacuumed out. When in doubt, have a certified sweep inspect the entire flue system.

It's essential that the stove's hearth and clearance requirements are properly honored. That will ensure greater peace of mind. It's better to have a fire extinguisher by the exit door than by the stove.

Thank You much appreciated.
