Hi, I’m also a newbie to using wood stoves. Our home has a Nashua N24 located in the basement with a blower and side vents with ductwork running up to them main floor. I can’t seem to help fast burns. I noticed the smoke ductwork leading into the chimney does not have a damper to allow closing down. Should I have one installed? Any good operational documentation resources? Thanks!

Has the stove setup been inspected to make sure it's safe to burn in?

The issue doesn't sound like there is a need for a damper in the stove pipe. How dry is the firewood?
