I only have had my stove for about a month and this is the first bag that I have opend and am not sure if I should dump it in the hopper or see if I can return it to HD. Just bought a dozen bags this weekend and not sure if they are usable.

Thanks in advance.

Picture is blurry but if you are doubting them just return it

Can't quite make out pics. Are they crumbling in your hand? Harman or not I wouldn't put that in my hopper. Perhaps a bit of the moisture from being outside uncovered.

Sorry bad picture they are not crumbling and the pallet was inside and they came home in the back of my durnago right into the garage. Do the big box stores take bad bad bags if returned in a week?

if as you say they are not crumbling , what is the problem ? poor cell phone pics . you also don't say what brand they are ?

I can't say as I have never needed to. Curious to the pellet brand however. Are the bags just full of fines or are the pellets breaking down easy?

Like I've said in other posts stay away from big box store pellets u don't get the consistency or quality.

Same thing can happen at your mom & pops too.

Chances are a lot less. Smaller pellet manufactures take more pride in there product and don't want a bad rap . you pay a little more but worry less. Now this poor guy has to drag back 12 bags back to hd. To me I can't be bothered dealing with that. You pay for what you get. Bottom line.

That pile of pellets is asking for trouble. Talk About auger jams . Plus u will be burning more cause they are all tiny in size more will fall into the auger.

Better to try a few then lug back a pallet or more.

excessive handling . personally i wouldn't have bought GS's but hell i'd just throw them in my stove . it eats anything and you own a stove people say will do the same , but that's your choice .

Here is a handful of mine.

If you pick up a few of the larger pellets can you break them up easily or do they have a little snap to them?

They had just gotten n i 20 tons and my stash was looking a bit low after that run of ZERO days. so far the first 4 bags where ok.

is that at the top of the bag or the bottom I purchased a ton of GS from HD and burnt them with no problem and no auger jams. good heat and a little ashy but not complaining about them

Thats the first 15 lbs out of the top of the bag the rest is in the bag and if i stick my hand in it i can feel lot more "dust"

I would open another bag and see what they look like and if it is the same consistency return them. When you grabbed them at the store were they at the bottom or top of the pile ?

These were off the "by the bag" pallet in the store. all bags were in perfect shape, perfectly stacked and my dozen where probably 10 from the top. Was a good 1/2 -3/4 of a pallet left after I took mine.

Did you try another bag? worst case you return them. I have never had to return a bag yet but I am sure they will or exchange them for store credit
