Hello,

I have a 2008 Harman p-38 pellet stove that just shut down and has no power. I changed the fuse with no luck. I keep the stove very clean. No previous problems since I purchased it. Could this be a blown feed or bad combustion motor. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Was the fuse blown? Does the outlet have power?

Is the power light indicator showing? It sounds like the control board has failed.

Welcome to the forum btw.

I have a 2008 p-38 which has the older circuit board. I suspected that could be a cause too. I frankly don't know how to test it. I have a voltage meter but would not know where to start. Thanks for the welcome!

You could check the connector at the board. Make sure the solder on the pins(back of board) looks good with no cracks in the joints.

And I suppose you could disconnect all loads (motors ,etc) and see if something is pulling the board down. A dead short would fail the fuse though.

Long shots IMO.

OK Thanks for the info. Appreciate it.

Is it plugged in?

It was but I unplugged it to check out the fuse which was fine but replaced anyway. Still nothing firing up. All motors and blowers are dead. Thanks

I would carefully run a jumper cord from a good outlet directly to the exhaust motor and see if that runs. For starters

Thanks for the suggestion. Not sure if that would answer my issue tho as nothing is running. I know there is power as I forget to unplug the cord and got zapped when tinkering with the circuit board fuse. Yeah , I know I'm a jack ass for that one! I've heard the circuit boards on these p38 are a problem sometimes.

I have been pricing the replacement boards, $280 to $320.00. The original board is no longer made, an upgrade is available.

Thanks me too. I hear you have to do a little retrofit as well. Such as tapping new screw holes and possible cutting a little of the sheet metal to allow the new board to fit. I love the stove but not happy about this.

I know I'm may get some harassment on this but I wired my P38 stove so I can use it while I'm waiting for my board. The auger motor is plugged into a remote control outlet so I'm constantly pushing the button to feed, combustion blower plugged into power strip, room blower wired to a variable speed fan switch. All with inline fuses. Only while in same room, warm house up and shut it down..I'm going see if my son can make me a simple extra control board from Snowy Rivers latest post..

Finally getting to the bottom of this. Replaced the circuit board with the generous help from Andy, NH to guide me through the wiring. Still not working. Finally had to call my dealer and have the certified Harman tech take a look. Wiring was good and 3 hours later and calls to his Harman instructor in PA, the diagnosis is a faulty ESP and a blown combustion motor which gfreek suggested I test. Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions.

Good to hear you are back up and running.
