Right now I have -20f below at 11:30 pm Friday. The high today was -17f below. The forecasted low is -29f below for Sat. a.m. Let's see then....... It's always 5-10 cooler here than forecasted. This will make 3 days in a row of a.m. low temp at -20f or lower. The coldest I've felt it here was -52f actual temp. no wind

RoF- sounds damn cold. Can you add your locale to your profile for frame of reference.

Its 6 degrees (f) here just west of Albany. A few hours ago it was 2, so its getting warmer!

Last night it was -4.

Yeah. It's now -18below here! Warming up. Keep pushing it Eastward. Suppose to get some snow tomorrow which means a slight warming trend to the single #'s or low teens -- in short seasonal weather. I don't mind the cold but beyond -10f is too much B.S. to cope with.

This morning is not as impressive as yesterday. Someone told me that (historically) yesterday is the coldest day of the year in New England. Here in NH we had -7 F. Last night when turning in it was -2 F, and waking up it was 6 and climbing...
Snow would be nice, but I don't think it's in our near future.
Update- I so lied about the snow! It started flaking about a half an hour after I posted. Don't think its going to add up to much though (maybe I'll be wrong on that too!)

Yesterday -3 early AM wakeup never got out od single digits

Last nigh when I turned in it was 3.5 Woke up to 8.5 More important during the entire time the furnace kicked in a couple of times but only for the upstairs zone
the main level where the Encore is cooking never went below 68 the therometer is in the next room around the cornor and not directly effected by the stove.
My Familly room zone did get to 64.5 when I let the Intrepit Ii burn down for ash removal last night I retired to 73 degrees the therometer is 20" away from the stove3
this morning it was 67 in here Cleanned out some ash and now 69 in here outside now has climbed to 12 its warming up

location Near the patriots Stadium

Balmy here compared to you folks up the coast. High teens the last couple of nights and 30's during the day. Headed for fifty something today and then takes another dive back down tomorrow. 70 in the far upstairs bedroom this morning and 72 in the one next to the stairwell.

Of course the downstairs office where the stove isn't burned all night was 59 this morning.

It's nice to see someone is getting some cold weather. Yesterday, here in central Minn, it peaked out at 45 degrees, amazing. But the bottom is falling out today. I woke up to 15f and now, two hours later its 7 degrees. Winter never really hit here so far, our coldest temp this winter was only -15.

Not to hijack your post Ring of Fire but you're an engineer for the Cog railway? That's so freakin awesome! I didn't get to ride all the way up because of weather but talk about an engineering marvel. BTW it's about 20 degrees here in Wyoming.

Today is balmy compared to yesterday, about 17* here and not much wind, and snow is falling.... It's not sticking though not yet..
last night it was about 3* with a wind chill of -18*.
And me being on the ocean it is usualy warmer than inland, but I was just out and about and the harbors and salt marshes are freezing up, and for this to happen it must be F-ing cold

Friday morning was the coldest here with a low of 4 but it was very windy blowing hard out of the NW into the teeth of the front of the house , packed the stove tight at 9:00 and went to bed at 10:00.
House lost 4 degrees from a high of 78 in the living room it was 74 when I woke up after an 8 hour burn I LOVE OAK!

Saturday AM was a low of 3 but not nearly as windy, didnt pack the stove as much and lost 6 degrees, gotta keep that Maple out :)

7.8 F here Friday morning. Today 44!

No stove as of yet. Come on tax return!

Jeff in far SE PA

I have one of those digital thermometers that records the coldest and warmest temps through the day. When I went to bed it was -18F at some time during the night it bottomed out at -22.5F at 3:30a.m. it had (warmed) up to -13F and by the time I got up at 6:00a.m. it was 2F. I love the smell of the air when its that cold out, of course I don't like smelling it for long.

I'd be sympathetic, but it's catch up time. You are colder, but probably into your normal season. We've been over 10 degrees down for three weeks, and below normal for eight weeks. Don't wish you bad luck, but I hope you planned ahead and have plenty of warm fuzzy's in stock.

Ring,
Global warming is not the greatest name for what we are seeing with our atmosphere. A better name is climate change mainly because of what you are experiencing. Some place will get colder, some hotter, some wetter, etc. The average temp of the earth is up and that does not mean that everywhere is always warmer.

Man cannot expect Earth to provide a consistent comfortable climate for their lifestyle that we have taken for granted over the past 200 years. Climate change will occur regardless of man made emissions or not.

It is "Earth" not "the earth". Do we say "the Mars", "the Neptune", etc.... I am not knocking your grammer because this phrase: "the earth" has been brainwashed in to man somehow. I look forward to continue a global correction of this over the net

I'm sure that the earth (had to do it ring) has gone through climate changes many, many times in it's history. The time that man has occupied this space is so insignificant, especially our industrial period, in comparison to earth's age that I think it is plain arrogant to assume that we are responsible for any 'global warming' or climate change. We do have a great tendency to overestimate our impact on many things, earth included.

Earth's climate may very well be changing, I just don't think that we play a significant roll in the cause or that we have any power to stop it.

I don't want to send this spiraling to the ash can, so I will end my short rant with this: It's a balmy 1* here right now, which is damn cold. However, it is much warmer than the last few days......

-24f below today! Since I posted this thread the am low has gone past -15f four times. Well global warming envioment nuts... explain this and the lastest ice age 11,000 years ago!

Actually we had a well documented "mini" ice age as recently as 700yrs ago.

Also until someone can explain why all the planets orbiting our sun are increasing in surface temperature , I personally believe there is a larger phenomenon going on and it is mainly the result of increased solar activity.

Global warming is a made up mental disorder by whack jobs. My town last month had the national low temp 3x. Going for that again this month. I had -38f below 2 days ago, -20f 1 day ago. It is currently -29f as I write this and still dropping off. Going for -40 below. So you global warming nuts, explain? It's MARCH 9TH.
