Ma.
Read some good revues about Greene team and I saw Lowes was selling them for about $5 a bag. I bought 3 bags and thought I'd try them. The good part is I've never seen so FEW fines or ash from any pellets that I have used. I sift all my pellets and clean the stove often, so fines and ash don't mean much to me. My main concern is the heat output. I have a thermometer on the stove for comparing pellets or setting the draft. On the mid setting (3 out of 5) the heat output was generally about 15 degrees lower than the LG'S and Greene Supreme and took quite a while to get there. Also, the pellets were unequally cut, to the point were many were 2 or 3 inches long. I poured the pellets into a container and broke the long pellets up by hand. There was a noticeable amount. Every handful had at least one that was 2 or 3 inches long. They need to sharpen up the cutter. Right now, I'm mixing them with some old Corinth(softwood) that I got a couple of years ago when they were bagging softwood. This is just my experience wih the new white bagged Greene team and for $5 a bag, they're probably OK for this time of the year. But, I don't think they'd keep my house warm when the temperature starts getting really cold. Just my 2 cents.

I have also had a few rather long pellets but nothing that has caused a problem and no where 3 inches long. I've really been trialing these pellets for the early part of the season and I feel the heat is actually pretty good but not great. Ash is low and they are burning fairly clean. I would consider them to be middle of the road and a pellet that if I had to burn all year I could live with it. But this year there are so many choices and availability is good. The same bag here on the island is going for $5.97....and the ton discounts are over.. $5.00 isn't a bad price even if you needed to mix them with a higher grade pellet.

I tried the Lowes Green Team pellets for the first time two days ago. I'm burning them in a Breckwell P23I. I am more than impressed as the output temperature (on setting 3) is 50, yes, fifty degrees greater than other pellets I have on hand (Appling and Fireside Ultras). As I had left overs from last year I only bought a half ton from Lowes and want more but need to burn the others I have.

On an aside, this is my first year with Appling and I'm not too impressed. Ash is fairly low but so it the output temps.

Good to know.....I bought a ton of these pellets(green team). I have burned them before with good results.

If you do a search, I think you'll find that Appling and Fireside are not rated very well and although, I have never used either, it seems different stoves burn different pellets, differently.
