Have what I thought was a grandpa bear but measures 32.25 across the top plate. Inside the stove it is 6 and a half bricks.

Grandpa was around 29.5 if I remember right and XL is 33.5.

I don’t know why a few fabricators made some wider. Since btu output goes by the temperature of each square inch of surface area, my guess is higher output. Notice they used the door hinge plates angled inward to reach the doors instead of angled outward.
