Question:
Dear Sir; We recently moved into a home that has a Buck Stove model 91 bay heater fireplace insert. The problem is that the wood burning smell or odor lingers even after the stove has been cleared of ash. Our entire home smells like burning wood, what is the best way to remove the smell and to prevent the odor from returning once it is removed?
Answer:
You'll find some mention of this in the Q and A and "specific info" areas of the site. It's a reversing or down drafting chimney, so you are smelling air coming down it. Best solutions: Fireplace Deodorant Chimney Cap Covering top of chimney in off-season Making certain insert is installed correctly..metal block-off plate below damper and stainless steel flex pipe at least five feet long.
