Those gunk is hard to completely burn up. Couple times (long time ago) I try to take shortcut with lighting fire, I end up finding tiny black soot depositing back on my decks, backyards, etc. Not very noticable with naked eye, but defintely pick up on socks, shoe bottoms, dog paws etc.
