Old Echo Saw Fans, maybe you can help me out. CS60S oiler issue.

Hey all,

I've got a mechanic friend (not good with computers) who's trying to help out his neighbor with an Echo CS60S. With the saw assembled and running, the oiler (auto or hand) doesn't function. If he closes the oil line off going to the inlet on the automatic oiler, the hand oiler works perfectly. What we can't figure out, is that with no check valves on either the inlet (where we think it needs to be) or outlet of the auto oiler, how was the system supposed to function in the first place? We've checked the oil system parts against the breakdown and as far as he can tell, it's all there. As it seems now, both pumps are just "idling" in the circuit, pumping oil in circles between the inlet and outlet but not delivering to the bar. He's covered the basics and replaced all the lines that were questionable including the pickup in the tank. What are we missing here?

I'm by no means a mechanic, but the flow adjustment can be a little picky trying opening it up or closing down, it sound as if it's sucking air some were and " vaccum locking"

That's just it, this thing has two accomplished mechanics puzzled as to how it even picks up oil in the first place with no check valves in the auto oiler circuit. There's nothing in the output line (#49 on the IPL) to prevent it from back-flowing through the automatic oil pump, which is exactly what is does when the hand pump is operated.

Found the demon. The missing check valve is indeed on the output side of the auto pump.I'm going to forward this info and hopefully this helps my mechanic friend fix this thing...
