Old Englander

Got this old Englander 25-PFS this past summer for $250, it was made in September of 1990, after a good cleaning and greasing and a little paint she looks and runs great! I replaced my Baker wood burning stove with this pellet stove and i love it. I have a small 2 Bedroom Split Foyer home and it heats the entire house with ease and i must say i did have my doubts at first. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that all the new stoves have and that's fine, that's less that can go wrong with it.

1 knob, it has the old PU-3022T System Control Board, 1 switch that turns on combustion fan, after the pellets in the pot are burning good, push green button to start the augers, 1 knob for heat control- Low to High

interesting stove, does that exhaust open right into the firebox or is there a path the exhaust gases must follow to get there (as in a heat exchanger)?
Ive never seen the vent on top like that on a pellet stove.

Looks to be a woodstove converted to pellet, especially with the top mounted 6" vent.

Most likely not very efficient then because there isn't a cirtituous flame path inside that forces the flame to give of as much heat as possible before exiting the flue.

Like I said, just a modified to burn pellets, woodstove.

What would concern me is that there are no safety features ... high limit, POF, vac switch

Basically a good garage heater, not at all efficient and needs watched constantly..; Worth about 250 bucks.

May have been one of the few stoves that were positive pressure pot. Keep it CLEAN.

Interesting conversation piece/garage heater. Not at all efficient and lacks even the basic safety related hardware. I'd say it's a pusher from the location of the combustion air blower but I bet it's a pellet hog.

The design magnifies the absence of as ash pan for easy cleanout (one reason I sold mine years ago and bought one (USSC Countryside clone) with an ash pan.

With no safety safeguards, it's not a stove to leave unattended in a home with combustible items around. If you had a RA blower failure, there is nothing to shut it down from an overheat condition. Theoritically it would keep on trucking to 'meltdown' ot ignotion of surrounding materials.... and surely burn off the paint job you applied. ....and it is a pusher which makes hopper burnback a distinct reality.

Nothing beats a 5 gallon finish...................

I'm familiar with how they clean out, I had one but a negative draft (later) model. They haven't really changed the design to date other than adding safety related hardware, full electronic controls, a real exhaust through a pellet vent and electric ignitor.... but still no removable ashpan.....

The main reason why I sold it years ago.
