Older Superior wall switch replacement question

I purchased a home with an older Superior gas fireplace with the Firelyter F10B wall switch with on/off/remote control. I would like to replace the wall switch and remote, however, the wall switch has a 9-volt battery and most replacements use four (4) AA. Would a 6-volt replacement work with the control valve?
