I read this forum when I am doing my last load for the night. Tonight I almost had it runaway on me because I was engrossed in reading a post about someone having a problem with a cat stove. I don't even have one. Maybe I should move my pc into the room with the stove . :)

"Hearth.com--At least it's not crack!"

It's seasonal crack. Last summer I was out in the garage wrenching and I thought about Hearth.com. I wondered how I had spent so many a winter evening in front of the stove reading posts from people I don't even "know", about problems with stove models I've never laid eyes on, and will likley never own. But as the nights started to cool and the stove started to warm, I found myself here again one night a week, then 2, then 4 then..... Now sometimes it's multiple times a day as my schedule permits. It's an awesome site, with some great folks and a tremendous resource.

Not me . . . I'm a full blown, 365-day-a-year addict . . . although things do slow down quite a bit in the warmer months.

Yeah, I noticed that the threads hardly move much as the weather warms. I think the last time I logged on last season was May and there were hardly any new threads started. To everyting there is a season................

Me too. I tried to get off the stuff last spring, but it has a powerful draw for a weak mind like mine. New Year's resolution was to lose 20 pounds and get off the Hearth for good. What am I doing right now? Sitting here eating cheese and crackers and totally immersed in goings on that have no bearing on my life, or even on my burning habits.

This stuff is even worse than crack. I need an intervention. :-S

Well.......... you could go take a drive if the weather is nice. Oh no! That might lead to finding some wood scrounge, hauling it home, splitting it up, posting a picture (where? Hearth.com, of course) - ah, but then you'd just be right back where you started.......

It's a vicious circle I think! :)

I hang around quite a bit, too. More time in the hearth when I'm burning. More time in the gear and woodshed sections when I'm cutting/splitting/stacking. It does get slow in the summer, and I do take more "forum" breaks when it's warm than when it's cold.

Mike, now that ESW doesn't make a 12 any more, is there an archive of research data from the stove that can be made available? I don't know specifically what I'm looking for, but if you've hung around here you might have noticed that I have a "thing" for data and charts, etc....

Also, is there an extra 17 laying around that has a bad paint job and needs to be disposed of? I can take it off your hands as a favor, lol.

Okay:

SWITCH TO CARROTS!!!!

Warning..........

Woodstove forum disease.

Symptoms:
The sufferer becomes confused and disorientated when kept away from a woodstove, woodpile, forest, or this forum.
A rise in temperature may occur when driving past a pile of sawn logs laying at the roadside.
They can often spend much money and time looking at saws, sharpeners, axes, and mauls, however, they are completely harmless.
It is not uncommon to completely ignore other people, particularly if they spot a similar sufferer out in the woods, where they can get completely engrossed in woody conversations.

This condition is incurable.

Treatment:
The patient should be kept supplied with magazines about forestry and woodlands, and catalogues of tools for splitting and cutting logs.
Access to the internet is vital, as the patient is only truly happy when trawling through wood related websites, and should be allowed to visit hearth.com as frequently as required.
Friends and relations can aid recovery with free beer, meals, and transport to forests.

In the event of an urgent hospitalisation, it might be better to contact a tree surgeon :)

hegh, I dont have a problem....everything is fine...but if you try to get me to stop visiting Hearth.com you'll be peeling the mouse from my cold, dead hand.

So you know first hand! You've been there! I should have known... we both own the same wicked cool saw. ;-)

Don't move the computer. The only exercise I get during the winter is going back and forth from the computer room to stove room.
Acctually I get a few 12oz. curls in now and then too. CHEERS

Not so much the computer, but thats what I tell people that say burning wood is too much work. I need something to get me off the couch and out of the house in the winter. ie hauling wood in and loading the stove, maybe cutting wood later.
