I have never burned or processed any ash before, but I stumbled into maybe just shy of a face cord while gathering my usual black locust. I believe it to be Oregon Ash, not positive but that is the only ash that is native here, and not many of them in my locale. Anyways, that stuff is heavy and dense, just as dense as the black locust or so it seemed to me while splitting. The tree was a bit twisted and had some extra limbs/crotches, and put up a fight with my splitter. Maybe it was that individual tree, I don’t know. Any of you west coasters process much Oregon Ash? Seems like it will be excellent firewood.
