Osburn 2400 ordered and ready to install next week!

Hi Folks,

It's been a while, but we've slowly been preparing for the big install day next week. Here is a pic of the block off plate. I think we are ready to roll. : ) I have one quick question. We had about two feet extra liner and not wanting to waste the insulation from it, put it in the back of the firebox (exterior wall) along with a fire back that we had, thinking it will help retain the heat. Is that a good idea or bad? I'll send a pic of that so you can visualize it. Can't see from the picture, but there is insulation also behind the fire back. I just want to get some opinions here to see if this seems negative or positive. Thanks as always for your help. Anita

Your gonna love the 2400... I'm so glad I switched last Dec before the real cold set in, it wouldve' been brutal to try and keep up with the Jotul..Congrats!

Awesome! This will be a fun winter. The 2400 is a beast. This past winter when it was super cold I didn't have to run my boiler -even on the coldest nights. I installed it so it's fully extended into the room. When it's set that way there is a lot of mass in the room which pumps out more heat.

You will like the 2400. We have the stove. We are heating a 2600 sq ft 5star plus house in Fairbanks AK. No problems at -55 F. It is a ruggedly built stove. I sealed up the clean out drawer and base and felt sealed the air adjustment control. Using outside air for combustion. We sealed the base to the floor where the outside air enters. I did install a flue damper as it is needed at times due to the tremendous draft that can develop with temp differential of combustion air.

Would you be bale to share you total estimated cost? I've been quoted $4600 for a Matrix install with installation, totally clueless if this is a good deal.

I have a friend helping me with install so my costs were the stove itself and the liner of about $3,500. I'm not sure how much actual installation costs would be but probably from start to finish $1,100 is about right if a stove company was to do it. Maybe others can help better, but that's my best guestimate. Hope it helps.

Yes, thank you very much. Good luck with your stove looks like Osburn makes a great product.
