Outdoor Weekend Jeepin

My buddy and I took a trip to the hills over the weekend. We had to winch and work on everything along the way. Here are some Highlight Pics.

Miles from anybody. Pictures don't do justice to the distance and elevation change. We climbed about 600 feet in a quarter mile or so. Really a stretch on my carb that kept flooding but the winch lended a hand in getting my over the top.Pictures 3 and 4 are of opposite sides of that valley. Pic 3 is looking south from the top of one hill. Picture 4 is looking north from the top of the other hill. Mostly the trees are hickory, white oak, black jack, and pine.

Great pics . . . and holy cow . . . I was always told Kansas was just about flat and tree-less . . . this looks like a very pretty area.

North Central OK is flat and treeless. We traveled to the South Eastern part of Oklahoma. Its very rocky and hilly. Although there are no "mountains" there are many steep grades with hills 900 feet higher than surrounding lowlands. Another 60 miles south of where we were you get into cypress bogs which is usually associated with Louisiana but we have that too. Very diverse land. Plenty enough in this pictured area to get my 82' CJ 5 into a bind.

Steep grade. Not a lot of options for going down this one. After going down we tried to go back up. It was tough going but after I made it up I winched the rest.

Looks like a great spot to go and just pick a spot to camp for a weekend!

private property but there are 140,000 acres of public property between Broken Bow, OK and Antlers, OK. Membership is $20 but you can take as many folks as you want.

We work on stuff way more than we get to drive them. I'm ordering a rear pinion Yoke today. Apparently the tabs that hold the Ujoint caps on broke off somewhere. I can't keep a Ujoint in. New Yoke $40.

Of course . . . it's a Jeep thing . . . I owned a Jeep Wrangler YJ I think it was . . . thing was always breaking down . . . finally sold it and got a much more reliable and practical Toyota 4Runner . . . which never left me stranded . . . but that said . . . even now I sometimes find myself wistfully thinking about that Jeep -- especially in the Summer time when it's warm and the top could be put down.

Ordered the parts. 3 days ago I ran outside as soon as I got home from work to try to get some wood split and stacked busted my butt and tried to push the splitter around by myself in the dark. My footing slipped and put extra pressure on my back. 2 bulging discs are the result. I'm down for a few months. Plenty of wood laying around for winter but the jeep will have to wait a few months now. Makes me sick.

98 YJ? I thought everything after 97 was a TJ up to the JK that is out now.I own a 97 TJ and love it. Great pics.

Yep your right. but i messed up on the year. its a 88 yj i think. Or maybe its a 89. either way it has square headlights. lol.

I had a 89 Wrangler, first new car I purchased, always had problems with it, the day it work the best was the Blizzard of 93 in NYC about 20" of snow fell from Saturday morning to Sunday morning, my wife's water broke while we were watching Saturday night live, needless to say @ 4:00 AM we headed to the hospital, I put it in low 4 and slowly drove there.

That was the only day my wife and father in law said good thing you had that Jeep
