I just purchased an OWB and have been researching different installations.(alot on this furum, thanks)I am wondering if I need to run my circulator constantly, from OWB to flat plat heat exchanger or do I have other options? Maybe on a call for heat? My house is very well insulated (only requires 29,000 btu not counting indirect fired DWH,according to a heat loss calc. i used) I have an oil fired hot water baseboard system now with an indirect dhw.I plan on buring the 1" pex(2 pipes+insulation+4"tile) as deep as I can(4'). The OWB is 100' from my house. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Assuming no storage and the OWB is up to temp, I would run the OWB circ only on a call for heat. In essence, zone circ and OWB circ both would be either on or off at the same time.

If the OWB is not up to temp, you may want the burn to start to bring the OWB up to temp before the OWB circ turns on.

You might want the option of manually turning on the OWB circ or putting it on a timer to cover periods when you are gone to minimize freeze-up potential.

Thank you for your input. I do not currently have storage.I am going to wait a year an see how things work out. I do have access to a couple of used propane tanks 500 gal. and 1000 gal. (i work for a gas company) and I am researching different designs using them. Would having storage make a difference on when to run my circulators ?
