I am having a Harman P-61A installed next week. This is my first pellet stove. I am looking for recommendations if I should have the outside air hooked up or if I will be OK without it. I have done some reading on this site but I am looking for more information….. Thanks. The installer has told me that I will be OK without it.

99% of the time it is highly recommended. Also, there are setups where you only have one hole in the wall for both the intake and exhaust,so only one hole, same amount of work.

It will probably be ok without it. It will probably be better with it. The stove needs a good supply of air for combustion. Without an oak...it suck the air from inside the house....which you have already heated...and sends it out the exhaust. If your house is reasonably tight it will create a negative air situation. Your house has to replenish the air the stove is using...so it draws outside air through weatherstripping..cracks and crevices, making your house drafty. So...you are not only pumping heated air out, you are drawing cold air in. It’s a no brainer to me.
