Hey all.
Took the door off my PE Super to replace the gasket today and saw the rust, pictured below.
The pictures are of the lower right corner of the door. This past May, I noticed it in the corner, but not along the groove. The rust has been creeping up the right side, and across the bottom of the door, right in the groove that sits on the insert.

Since May, the chimney liner has been closed off at the bottom and a container of DampRid has been sitting inside. I guess this groove wouldn't be helped much by that though.

Any thoughts? Should I be taking a steel brush to it and repainting?

Thanks.

I'd probably just leave it, but if you want to nip it in the bud then wire brush it out, wipe with alcohol and then brush paint with some stove paint.
