Pellet Boiler That Generates Electricity

New Horizons has this pellet boiler on it's site that has a sterling engine generator built into it. http://www.newhorizoncorp.com/electricheat-power-generation/

No pricing that I could see and not a whole lot of info,but sure would be interesting to the off grid solar folks.
Winter months when the boiler is running is when solar production is the least,so would sure beat running a generator.

Don't expect it would be free energy though - I would think that whatever it used to generate electricity would be that much less that would go to heating your house.

I just quickly did some googling of this and it seems this is starting of course to catch on in the UK . From the little I have read we need to think of it in reverse . What they are doing is generating heat ( burning gas or pellets ) to power a stirling engine generator . The cooling process is the by product of heated water that is then used for home heating . I see no reason it cant be down in reverse so any heat need for hot water ends up to generating electricity that could be grid tied . Just thinking outside the box .

Cool. Now a larger unit that could burn pellets, and a separate one that could burn cord wood would be very appealing to those who need more output for larger homes and business applications.
