Just found out today from my seller that they are having a tough time getting pellets again this year due to 2 factors

1. A fire at the Wood Fiber pellet plant in Wisconsin

2. The Rib Mountain plant in Wausau WI had a machine break down.

We are getting another ton this weekend. Just stopped and paid for it on the way home. That will bring us up to 5 tons and get us through march.

How about the plants in Ladysmith and the Marth plant. Theres a rebagging plant in south WI too.

We want to support our local seller. He has been very good to us. Family business.

I won't buy from the big box stores. Most of them store their pellets outside. I've seen them covered with snow ad ice.

It's also better for my stove to burn low ash pellets. It stays cleaner and is easier to clean

I think menards carries the marth, but they store outside.

Price is good too. Our early buy was $220 a ton and went up to $235 a ton today

Nothing wrong with outside storage as long as the pallet is covered with rain tight vinyl or shrink wrap. How do you think the pellets are stored at the mills or shipped on flatbed trucks or rail cars?

No idea

I just know the ones I've seen looked pretty sad

Got our ton today. Tomorrow I do my weekly cleaning and install a new thermostat

They are not out of business. My guy got a semi load in on Friday and sold out right away

Theres supposedly a nation wide shortage everywhere. But everywhere i have ever stopped except lowes they have had pellets. Honestly i think big box stores caused this hysteria by not carrying enough pellets end of last winter. Think about it. If i wanted a winter coat now i couldnt find it. If i wanted bags for leaves or parts for my leaf blower or power washer i cant find it now. I can buy all my christmas stuff in july. But cant get shear pins for my snow blower in febuary because summer items are in stock only. Its madness. Lol

If I was a cheesehead, I'd be burning field corn. Cheaper than pellets per BTU / pound and Wisconsin has plenty of old crop corn in the $3.25-$3.35 per bushel range.

If I hadn't prebought 5 ton, I'd be stink'in up the neighboorhood with corn right now.

Smells more like popcorn around here.

Well the cornfield behind us hasn't been combined yet.....think he'd miss a few ears?

Unless he notices the tracks in snow. Neighbor dropped about ten bushels almost on the property line and before they dug it up I sucked it up. Slowly drying on stove as the moisture is close to 20%

Cobs don't auger well. You need to hit him up for an acre or so shelled (so long as it's at 15% RM or less.) Anything over 15 and it don't burn well.
