Pellet Stove install with new Hearth

I have been thinking about posting these photos for a while. Just been to busy clearing snow and fixing broken stuff (like my back)...
I Starting this in the fall, took me a few of weeks to complete, maybe 60 hours total. I have a new respect for Masons.
I got the stove used for $200 bucks. It was listed here on the site.

Thanks to everyone who has offered advise and words of wisdom. I enjoy this website most every day.

Rob, what are the vents to the left?

Fresh Air intake for the heat pump, (the heat pump has not been used since the stove started)

Thanks, it was my first attempt at stone work. It's not difficult to do, just hard physical work... The materials cost about $1300 with the biggest expense being the 2 inch thick Blue Stone I used for the pedestal. I made a template and then had the piece cut and the front edge hammered and fired to look like natural.

Yeah -- stone isn't hard to do. I did the same and learned it by doing. The hardest part that I found was getting all of the pieces to fit together. It was a large puzzle. I even laid it out on the floor beforehand to the exact dimensions and they still didn't go on the wall the same.

Hello Rob

Very nice!! I like the raised hearth too. It is a real safety feature so no one will bump into the stove!!

Also the raised hearth makes the stove look larger and more impressive!

Are you going to paint or stain or cover the front of the raised hearth??


I added a little rope light around mine. See pics below.
