Yesterday I bought my Pellets for next year . My dealer has an early buy-in in April
I bought 4 1/2tons of Fusion Blend, a mix of soft 20% and hard wood 80% and 1 1/2 tons
of Cubex. He stores the pallets, and I call when I need one. Delivery is free. They have
gone up in price from last year (to be expected), Cubex 429.00 a ton, 8.58 a bag
Fusion blend 409.00 per ton, 8.18 a bag. Getting so a man might be better off heating
with cordwood at 375 a cord oak/sugar maple mix cut, split and delivered.

You are getting value added not paying delivery, and not having to store them. Home Depot still have my Eastern Embers at 7.76. Home Hardware have them too at a slightly higher price. I am down to my last couple of bags. I will just buy by the bag till I have my delivery in the fall. Hard to believe now that I burned over 150 bags. I wish the stove didn't need to be cleaned though. I had a gas furnace before, and it was easy to maintain. I just did the last cleaning today. Next will be the fall total system cleaning. I will run it a bit all summer to warm up the basement and have the flame to look at.
Edit - PEI also has a 10% at the checkout rebate before tax. Solid fuel rebate. They want people to get off oil. They also help with Heat Pumps. There is no natural gas here.

I get Barefoot Pellets, which come from a hardwood flooring factory about 40 miles from here. I've been buying them from our local hardware store since I bought my stove. This year, the "early buy" is the end of winter price, and the price is going to increase June 15th, and only go up from there. I bought one ton already and am going to go back and get 4 or 5 more.

At $329.00/ton it's still cheaper than oil and less labor than wood, so I'm still comfortable with my purchase, but when I started in 2019, I think the early buy was $220 per ton, so yeah...

i bought 4 tons of GS from HD at the end of April. I figured the price, $319/ton (yes, that is cheap around here) will do nothing but go up for next season so I got in early. I also had a 10% off coupon, which more than covered the $79 delivery fee - honestly I was shocked they hadn't upped that yet as I've paid as much as $90 before (I live about 35 miles away). I paid a total of $1247.40 so my effective price per ton for next heating season is $306.85/ton.

Last year I bought 3 tons at a total of $942 (including delivery and a 10% off coupon). So my effective price for this past heating season was $314/ton.

I just won't buy them again this year. Burned 3 Bags last year, vs normally 3 Tons. Still have 2 tons. Went with Extreme Low Temp Heat Pump that works down to -21f. Elec bill went up one month about 20 bucks over previous year. Most of the time it went down except for few days when Elec Company said I used 6k in one day (System Screwed up, Fixed). We went with Midea Evox G3 Until (Makes Carrier). Only downside is fan wont' run all the time in heat mode to prevent blowing cold air on you. Wish that had override. Back to heating right now. Went from 40kw a day to 60kw. Most of that from Four 5kw shop heaters in outbuildings. Put in Remy Halo LED and that made a BIG difference in dust in the house. 16k and saved $900 using 1st season on just pellets. Like everything else pellets have gone up in price here (Oldtown Idaho). Since it was warm Winter it skews the numbers on Kw used. We only got down to 10f at lowest. And that was for brief period. https://www.mideacomfort.us/g3.html https://rgf.com/products/phi-air-purification/halo-led-whole-home-in-duct-air-purifier/

Units head down to -23f they advertise. I can't personally testify to that, but did great when we go down to 10f. We pay .0682 Kw.

How comfortable it is when it gets down to those low temps may be a whole other story. My mini split is rated for 5*F. Yes, it will function down to that cold, but it goes into defrost mode constantly and blows cold air. So, I usually don't use it any lower than in the mid teens for outside temps. Actually, this past season I didn't use it at all, even for shoulder season. Electric rates are pretty high and I like pellet heat much better so I'm hoarding my credits from solar (they never expire).

Disclaimer - My house is old and only as 2x4 walls so even with new insulation (in 2014), it doesn't hold heat real well - which may make a difference.

Like you, I like the heat from the stove, and my Home is also very old. Hand-squared cedar logs built in 1850. Only insulation is in the ceiling, 20 in of blown in, other than that, the 18 in logs are the only insulation

Yikes 2x4 Walls. My Walls on the outside are 18". Overbuilt house by Couple that moved from Alaska.
Sounds like the house my youngest built 2x12 walls, R60 ceiling, R100 triple pane windows
Basement floor to floor 8 in spray foam under the basement slab, 6 in styrofoam. You can
heat that place with a candle
