The house we recently purchased in the Poconos has a Lennox LBR-4324 pre-fab fireplace in the main room (open plan kitchen, dining area and living area with a cathedral ceiling). It is visually attractive but doesn't seem to generate any real heat in the room from a wood fire. Given how low the temperature gets in winter, we would love to get some useable heat from the fireplace on cold evenings and weekend days, so I am looking for some recommendations on what to do about this. Should we be looking for a replacement pre-fab with better heat output, or should we be going in a completely different direction? We love wood heat, and so would like to stick with that if there is a solution that makes the heat output worthwhile.
