Well because of one reason or another (mostly laziness) the stove sat full of ash after the last burn from this spring.

Went to the local stove shop yesterday and picked up a can of stove paint, and some new rope and cement for the door gasket.

Got her all vacuumed out and cleaned up today, went through the entire can of paint spraying the stove and surround. Put the new gasket in and letting the cement dry overnight. Have to head back to the stove shop to replace a couple of cracked fire bricks, but other than that she is ready for the season.

Bring on the cold!

Ha! I thought I was the only one.
On another note you mention vacuumed all up - I did see a ash vacuum at lowes for under $100.
Interesting since most of the ones I've seen have a pricepoint in the stratosphere.

I also noticed some rust spots on the top - my son must have got it with the squirt gun where it sat and made little round rust marks. So I'll have to remove that and spray a few spots with satin black sb.

Yeah I am the one that tells everybody to do the deed at the end of the season so they have the summer to fix anything they find wrong. Well, here I sit saying I have to get the chimneys brushed and things ready to go maybe next week.

I did look over the stoves a few months ago at least.

You're ahead of me BB. The only time I have looked into the stove since May had been to dump a bowl of pistachio nut shells into it. There is a small mountain in there by now.
