One of our gas stoves has the option for tinted glass hearth pads, they can be square or curved in the front. Pretty neat little stove and moder looking. Can see pics here

Looks really cool, but I can't imagine how ticked I'd be when I scratched it. I really like the idea though. I wonder if it could be used as wall protection if it's spaced properly.

I wonder how often that stove is burned?
I am about as anal as they come regarding our hearth pad and cant imagine keeping up with that one

I'd also wonder, what are they using for a hearth pad? I would think tempered glass would be to fragile, and the other clear plastics that I'm familiar with are combustibles...

Maybe a big slab of ceramic glass? Don't see much combustible protection to the wood underneath it though.

It's a 1/2" slab of tempered "Ultra Clear" glass. Weighs 120 lbs, cost $450.00. Brand new install in a loft in NYC, don't think he's burned it yet. He's sending better photos today, I'll post them when they arrive.

thechimnysweep- that is awesome! But- is-would the glass be really fragile? Also, glass can melt at high temps, or is that type not so? It would really show off a concrete/acid stained floor, hmmmm- now that I think of it, I won't have to have any hearth...rats- that is a great idea!
