We have an industrial roaster. Recently we were changing the firebricks along the walling and noticed a lot of cracks with the air-set refractory mortar we applied on the surface of the walling. The brand we are using is 47.08% Aluminum Oxide based on the tech sheet. My question is if we should b applying a different kind of refractory mortar that is specifically used for surfaces?
