Proflame II Remote Not Beeping

I have a new Regency G800EC with a Proflame II remote. Today, the remote stopped working for some reason.

To troubleshoot:

• I've replaced the AAA batteries in the transmitter.
• I've made sure the receiver is on Remote mode, and pressed the program button. After the 3 beeps, I've pressed the power button on the transmitter.

The remote still will not work. It used to make a beep every time I pressed a button, but now it doesn't make any beeps.

Can anyone give me ideas of what else to try? Do I need a new remote?

I also tried the trick with pulling out one of the batteries, holding down the thermostat button, and re-inserting the battery.
