I've been burning pellets exclusively for the last 2 years with a little bit of propane. Last delivery i had was last april. I've seen everyone talk about how low oil and propane is this year, so i called today thinking about a delivery. $2.89 no way I'm paying that with pellets cheaper with better heat. What are you guys paying?

Your propane price is a bargain compared to here, you don't even want to know.

Do tell................just so we wood burners can smile:):):):)

Propane: $4.51per gal. #2 heating oil is $1.52 per gal and pellets at HD are the cheapest around here at $5.18 a bag. Fortunately we don't heat with propane, just cooking and hot water.

Propane 3.59 a gallon. The guy said he was giving us a deal....Oil 1.64 gallon. Pellets 259 ton.

I had prepaid 1000 gallons for this heating season back in June for $1.099 per gallon. Topped off my tank in August for $.775 per gallon, cash price.

I don't know what current LP prices are.

Ha I have lived here for 25 years and never paid less than 1.00 gallon for propane.

Haven't checked yet. I have been paying $255/ton for pellets - Lignetics.

What is driving the price of pellets so high? I am bummed I have so much invested into my boiler at this point because pellets are so expensive.
Drop in oil prices hurting alternative fuels and nat gas based fuel? That sucks. We're at the mercy of this crap.

Back in late Oct (or maybe early Nov), I got 150 gallons for $500 ($499.54, but who's counting). Could have locked in $2.49/gallong price last June - if I gave them $119 for the privilege (not a pre-pay, a "fee").

Don't know what it costs now. the 150 gals only does DHW and cooking, which I do little of, so should last me all year.

Last fill in November was 1.69/ gal here

I think we are looking at last years locked in pre sales from the manufacturers to the dealers. Inventories are stuck in the lots and were bought at last years manufacturers pricing. This inventory has to get cleared before we see significant changes in pricing. It's just my wild imagination at work, it's what makes sense to me in other words. There comes a point where someone has to lose their shirt to move the stuff LOL !! Either that is the dealer who is stuck with the inventory, the manufacturer offers a rebate of some kind or we the customer pay through the nose till it's gone.

I'm thinking of the town of Greenville Maine when I read your post. They took out an old oil boiler at the public school building and put in a new pellet boiler in 2014.. Wow, I bet someone's butt is on fire right now !!

Paid $2.89/gallon last early November 2015. Only used about 30 gallons since then, for H/W and dryer....Still have about 170 gallons in the tank (67%)(Will last until September)
