NOAA winter forecast is out. Looks like the PacNW may be chillier than normal, while the east coast gets a break.

It got up to the 75-85F the last week of January 2017 here in northeast Georgia. I had planted some crab apple trees the week after Christmas and they flowered in early February. The azaleas flowered about 6 weeks early.
South Carolina and Georgia had no peaches this year due to not enough chilling hours and no flowering.
The ticks were happy.

75°F and sunny here today. NOAA forecast agrees with the forecast from the Old Farmers Almanac for the Ohio Valley. It looks like we’re going to have a warm and rainy winter.

You can have it BG, last winter was nice here out east, we still had (not by much) an above average snowfall season minus the prolong bone chilling cold.
But alas, I'm a weather buff and I do see changes that other's are missing, the Pacific trough will not be as defined as last winter, if feel as though we will see a more zonal pattern and equal chances of cold and snow in the MW & NE, OH valley will be the battle ground as usual.
*save this post and tell me in the spring how I did

I like the cold, but I hope we get a couple of sunny stretches throughout the winter. Last March we had 31days of rain.

That would be nice. I’m sure you guys got a ton of rain on your side of the mountains! We ended up with so much snow I had to bring in a front end loader to move all my piles to make more room.

I've never seen so much snow at my place in Glacier! If I didn't shovel the walkways and decks off every day it quickly became hopeless. The community owned snowplow broke it's frame and needed replacement. Thousands of trees snapped like toothpicks under the weight of snow and hundreds of big trees blocked the State Hwy. keeping it closed for four consecutive days.

The upside was this Spring good firewood was everywhere! So I'm fully stocked and hoping for a repeat.

I know what you mean, I'm 54! The good thing about the weather forecast is that it's for the deeper, fluffier stuff. No bouncing involved! But, even on firmer days, if you keep it up, you will always bounce better than your years would indicate. When you say you're too old, you will be right before you know it!

But, even on firmer days, if you keep it up, you will always bounce better than your years would indicate. When you say you're too old, you will be right before you know it!

All of my dogs love snow.....until they have been out in it for hours then they get mad at me!

I’m only 37 but physically feel around 50 and mentally around 20! I’m working to get those numbers closer together. Injuries and illness from serving overseas are making it an uphill battle but the hill started as a straight up mountain so it’s definately getting easier!

I'm sure that takes a bigger toll than many realize. Thank-you for serving. I just wish we had a government that was a little more thoughtful before going into war. It's shocking how civilian leaders who avoided mandatory service themselves (using flimsy medical excuses and high connections) are allowed to make the decision that affect the lives so profoundly of so many of our youngest and strongest. It ain't right but I'm glad things are still improving!

Woody, so do I, but that is the way our Constitution is written, I am still humbled by the shear number of patriotic Americans that choose to serve when they are not compelled to do so, like my father was in Korea.

It's been snowing all morning east of Snoqualmie Pass. It will be rain soon enough though. I am at around 3K feet.... was up around 4500 feet a week back and we got over a foot of snow.
