Hello I purchased the Castile stove and waiting for it to be delivered. I noticed that quad makes a top vent adapter kit for straight up installation. Does anyone have this kit or do you just use a T with a clean out cap? I'm trying to get the stove as close as recommended to the back wall- does the T stick out further than the adapter kit? Thanks in advance

The top-vent adapter extends only 5" behind the stove and has a trap door on the left side for cleaning. Mine goes into a pre-existing 6" stovepipe up through the roof. The manual says it needs at least a 3" clearance behind it if you are near the wall.

Thanks for the information. I guess I'm confused as to what size stovepipe to vertically install from the adapter. My guess is the adapter takes the place of the T where the stove meets the pipe. Can I connect 3 or 4" pipe to the adapter? Or like your install is this adapter only for 6" pipe?

It uses 3". Mine has a 3-to-6" on it to mate with the old pipe.

If you don't have the manual yet: (broken link removed to http://hearthnhome.com/downloads/installManuals/7021_130.pdf)

Page 19 shows the adapter. It also shows a "Rear Vent to Top Vent Adapter" that I'm not familiar with.

Ok thanks for the link. You have the 3 to 6" offset collar. Yeah I guess I won't use the collar and just connect 3" pipe to the adapter. I would assume that would work?

I would ask the dealer you get it from to describe everything you will need. Also ask about that other one I mentioned, it looks smaller and also might be less $$$
