I have a 3 year old Classic Bay, at the end of last season the high speed on the blower quit working- works great on low speed, but quits when you toggle to high. Any tips to trouble shoot if it would be the blower, switch or something else?
Remove the switch. Unhook the wires. Use a multi-meter to check for continuity at each position. If there is no continuity on high then the switch is bad. If there is continuity at all three positions then you need to check the resistance on the motor windings. You will need to research online to find out what the resistance should be for a healthy motor. Also check for loose wires. If you don't have a digital multi-meter then you need to get one, they can be found pretty cheap. Just remember to always do resistance and continuity checks with no power applied to the device or circuit as this could destroy your meter. Always unhook the component that you are testing as other components in the circuit can skew your results. Voltage testing can be done on live circuits but be very careful working on circuits under power. Hope this helps.
