i am currently looking for tile for my stove, and found some quartzite on the web. anyone used this stuff before/??? how strong is it and would it work well with heat and weight???

ANY tile that is laid properly in thinset, on a backer board (Hardi-Backer, Durarock),
with the backer laid on Micore should be adequate.
As long as there are no air gaps in the thinset, weight shouldn't be an issue...
