Question about duravent 45° elbows

I just installed a 13nc in a corner. I have the required 8.5 inches from corner because I used side heat shields. If I wanted a little extra piece of mind could I put
2 45's together and get a little extra clearance? If so how much more clearance would that give me? Also can they be installed directly to the support box? Tia

Yes, they work very well this way.

Is it ok to screw through the inner wall on Dvl to connect it to the Dvl/support box connector? I see no other way to do it besides not screwing it at all

This is the way I have it installed. I called duravent and they told me it wasn't necessary to screw it at the connector unless I wanted to. The only place mine is screwed is in the middle of the telescoping stovepipe. I know if I put the 45's on though, it would need to be screwed down

Yes it's ok. Drill a pilot hole first so that the screw has a place to bite and does not push the start adapter and inner wall inward.

PS: Do you have the new version of the start adapter? It would be hard with the old style. If old style don't worry. As long as the other joints are screwed correctly it's not going anywhere.

That's the new style. The old style snapped together with little tabs. I still use screws on the old style, the little locking tabs don't always do so well.
