Question about Enviro Omega/Auger noise.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum, but I've found a lot of people on this site seem to have a wealth of knowledge as I did research on a new heat source for my home.

A few weeks ago I bought an Enviro Omega brand new (2008 model was lost in storage at local dealer) for 1000$ off. The thing throws off more then enough heat, to warm up my 80 year old uninsulated home(props).

However the auger motor in it whenever it turns on seems to be out of proportion with the noise it makes. I would say it's as loud or louder then the blower on the highest setting. It's just a mechanical sound might be described as a chugging,winding, or grinding noise.

I don't really have a lot to go by for comparison besides my mothers harman insert, which really doesn't make any auger noise at all, just the noise of the pellets falling. My suspicion is that although it's never been used, because of the age of the machine, any lubrication in the motor might be wearing thin. Or, maybe it's just me and I just think it is over loud(borderline annoying to overly annoying). I was living with it, until I realized I had to turn the tv to max volume to hear what was being said.

Any insight would be appreciated especially from someone who owns an Omega, or Maxx-M who could tell me if its normal or not. The motor in it is 3rpm. Thanks

Does the Omega have an agitator like the Maxx-M? Just wondering if it is the agitator or the auger... Did the dealer allow for warranty?

Yah it has an agitator which makes noise as well but not nearly as bad as the auger. Fortunately they told me that the warranty would still be valid. They are suppose to swing by the next time they are in the neighborhood. The reason I was still looking for other opinions, is to make sure they don't play any funny games, if you know what I mean. Not that I think they will.

Wow, that would drive me nuts. The agitator is on a chain which is why I asked ... have you taken off the side to ensure there are no problems with the function of the chain drive?

Nice looking stove - tight corner - do you meet interior clearances? Do you have surge protection and CO detector?

Hate to disappoint you, but its the same noise the Maxx/Maxx-m augers make too. They have a 3RPM motor on them, and they make more noise. Whomever sold you that stove should have told you it is not an ideal stove for upstairs in a formal part of the house. They are nice basement heaters, or applications where noise is not a factor. Our Maxx in the store has not worn in after 4 months of burning...

My new Maxx-M makes a similar but smoother noise, but in my case it's the stirrer. You can tell at lighting and shutdown as the first is pellet auger only, and the latter is stirrer-only.

It's almost deffinetly not the agitator as it doesn't make the noise on shutdown, and the location of the noise is coming from the location of the auger motor xD. And yes I just went out and bought a surge protector bar, and moved furniture around to meet clearance of the front(sortof, close anyways).

The other day it stopped making the noise it is making now for almost the whole day then it started again, instead it was just a light whirring noise. I'm not convinced that it is suppose to be this loud after that, but could be.

My friend, just bought a truck to find that it kept slipping out of 4x4, he tore out the transfer case looked inside and couldn't figure out the problem just knew the fork in it kept slipping, then he took it to a transmission shop for them to tell him that everything was in spec and nothing was wrong. He ended up taking it home and building up the fork with epoxy. It works fine now.
I have a feeling this may work out the same way, and I'll have to void my warranty on the auger to figure things out in the end. But we will see if the dealers ever end up sending someone out. I'll post the outcome either way.
