Hello, I have a Dutchwest 2461 and what I want to know is when do you close the damper to engage the cat? I know it starts working at 500 degree's but do you burn with the damper open until it hits 500 or do you close it before then?

Thanks

I wait until the temp probe reads 450-500F, close damper, watch temp probe while slowly closing the primary. See your manual below.
