When installing a stove what do you put on the joint to get them to be air tight. When I installed my insert it was just a stainless liner. What do you do when there are more then one joint. Sorry I'm talking about pipe joints.

Just cement. The only place in a wood stove system that you'll find a "clamp" is the locking band on chimney like Duratech and Metalbestos.
Thanks for clearing this up, I have a chance to get a antique parlor stove if I can restore it I wanted to make it useable. So this helps clear one of my many questions.
I doubt it's necessary to make stove pipe joints airtight. The pipes just get pushed together and secured by three screws. The tiny air gaps are acceptable.
