So today i found an ever so hairline crack in the lid of my lopi leyden. It is from the top (or furthest back side) about 6" towards the front, just left of middle. Unfortunately it is cast and not steel or i would just arc it.

The crack does go all the way through. The chitty part is that this is only the 2nd season we have used it. It was purchased last november. I dont remember sending out the warranty info, but i also dont think it would be covered. While my wife and i were learning the stove last year, it was overfired a few times. This year we got it down and have kept it under 400.

Is there anywhere to just get a replacement lid? I look in the manuals replacement parts section and they seem to have every part but the lid.

thanks for any help.

Have you talked to your dealer? I would think they would help you out with this. If you over fired it, then I wouldn't expect a free replacement though. How hot did the top get? It can handle some pretty high temps, but if you ran it with the ash pan door open then I can see this happening. Does it heat well enough for you at 400 degrees?

well...i will say when im in a hurry to leave for work in the morning i will open the ash pan lol. I just do it for about 30 seconds tho to get the fire going again after burning through the night. As for the 400 degrees it heats the house exceptionally well. Last year while learning it it would get to 600~ and be unbearable. Now burning at 400~ with a window open it is perfect. The house is only 1700 sq/ft and the stove is in the living room in an alcove so the heat doesnt spread as well as it should but not bad at all.

We turned the heat pump off a couple weeks ago and the entire house temp doesnt drop below 68 even during the mid to low 20 degree nights lately.

Sounds like it's doing great! Your owners manual gives all the warranties, I can't remember how long the cast parts are warranted for. I thought it was 2 if not 5 years. Besides the lid is not fastened down, it's hard to believe it could crack.

well i cant remember if we sent the warranty info out last year when we got it. Even if we did they would probably want the stove or at least the lid first to inspect it and i cant really do that as it is heating the house right now. If i just have to buy a new lid then so be it but the part info is just not in the manual :/

I don't know if Lopi is the same but my Buck door was warped from new. I explained the situation that I was heating also. They said no prob and sent me new but told me to ship old when back when I receive new one. If dealer is not helpful, contact them directly?

Go directly back to Travis Industries who makes the Lopi line. I have found them to be extremely helpful with questions and concerns. I bet, if you explain what went on they send you a replacement. Never hurts to ask!!

Let the Dealer act first. That's why they have dealers. Then go to Lopi
