I have a tri level with a Buck 81 insert downstairs and a Brunco Hearthglow on the mid level. The Buck works great except getting the heat from downstairs to upper levels is tough. The Brunco puts out lots of heat but goes thru 3 times as much wood as the Buck and burns 3 times as fast. I was thinking about replacing the Brunco. I wish I could get another Buck 81 but I guess they don't make them anymore. Any recommendations? I only need to heat 1600 sq ft. I know there are tax credits thru this year so that would help.

Look at 3 cu ft stoves. For a good value there are the Drolet Escape 2100 and their HT-3000 that qualify for the credit or in their Osburn line, the 3500. In big cat stoves there is the Blaze King Princess or King. Woodstock sells the Ideal Steel and Progress Hybrid.

The Buck 81nc and 91 cat are still sold but I don't think they qualify for the tax credit.
