roof supports for Duratech chimney

my chimney will be about 30 inches inside the outer wall, second floor. No attic.. I was thinking it would be nice not to make more holes in the roof sheathing OSB for the 2 metal chimney supports. The only way to do that would be to run the metal arms down to the edge of the roof, about 5 ft,
and separate them by about 2-3 ft. Like a Y configuration. Would that work??? Most people do the 90 degree arms and screw them into the roof.
What do you think???
 
It doesn't take much to brace the chimney. I think any sort of Y configuration would be good.
