I have a Jotul Castine and it's great. I got it new last December. Just this morning I noticed that the white round liner rope where the top inside plate meets the top side walls looked much smaller in diameter than it did a short time ago. It's almost like it's shrinking and leaving a residue.

Why's this happening, is it serious, do I need to do something immediately?

Thanks very much.

Normally this wouldn't shrink. Is it possibly just getting sooted up so that it appears smaller? I'm curious about what prompted you to look up there. I think I only did that during the annual cleaning.

I was thinking of the top lid gasket, but perhaps this is not what is meant. Maybe post of picture?

A stove that new should not need a gasket replacement but if so, it is very simple to do. As BeGreen stated, a picture will help.
