I am planning to insulate and reinstall my block off plate tomorrow.( hoping to get a new f55 from Preston trading post by mid October) I noticed there is a few different roxul insulations available a few different R values and thicknesses. Is there a certain one that is better for this application?

I have about a 30 foot exterior chimney. I know it might not be needed but I would like to add an inline damper. Is there a Tee available that has a damper built in?

Thanks

Usually the batt insulation is what is stuffed above the block-off plate around the liner. In that case 3.5" thick batts are fine. Are you thinking of using Roxul mineral board instead?

Last year my buddy picked up the safe and sound roxul, i didnt realize there was other options myself. It worked really well on his install so ill be using the rest of what he has on mine. They dont give an r-value but its gotta have something.
In your case just get the r-15 that should work fine

I will pick up some R15 then. About how much should I stuff up in the damper? I am also insulating the liner if that matters

You just need to cover the top of the block off plate. You are just trying to keep heat from rising above that. I wish Lowe's would have had the stuff ten years ago. Nobody sold it to consumers back then and I had to find it at a company bankruptcy auction from an in progress building remodel.
