Years ago I did my door gasket with the cement provided. It dried rock hard and didn't adhere to the gasket. The gasket has been loose ever since.

We have talked here about using high temp RTV. I figured I'd give it a try. I used permatex ultra copper. I got it at a automotive store. I put in about a 1/4 bead. Pushed the gasket in, without stretching it out. Put the door back on and closed it. A bit of RTV.squeezed out on the hinge side. Cleaned it up with solvent. It set up in a hour, and is cured in 24 hrs. The gasket looks real good after a few weekends.of fires.

I would recommend you give this a try when you do your next gasket.

There are probably a few automotive products that will do double duty for stoves.

I used the same stuff 3 weeks ago real Happy so far, Low odor also for silicone. I have about a dozen fire's on it. I purposely left a dab on the door frame to see how hard it will get. and it's still pliable when I push on it with my thumb nail. Sure beats that hard a** gasket cement. Permatex also make a debonder you spray on that breaks down the silicone for easy removal. Jay

Jay, yes I likened, that it stayed pliable. Great idea leaving some on the door, exposed to the flame. Let us know what it does exposed to a 650 degree fire.
