Can anyone recommend a sealer to use for a blue stone hearth for a wood burning stove? I do not want any high gloss look. How does the sealer hold up to the heat?

A silicone sealer should be fine.

I used water based poly on the brick hearth I built and it seems to be doing just fine. I used and old paint brush and liberally doused it with a couple coats. Get the satin or even dull stuff and it wont shine.

I've alternated with high gloss and matte stone sealant . . . cannot remember the brand . . . only that I picked it up at Lowes or Home Depot. No issues using either one . . . the high gloss gave the stone a "wet" look . . . the matte finish just cleaned it up a bit and sealed it without the shine.
